🌼 April in the Garden: Preparations, First Fruits, and Lots of Excitement 🍓🧑‍🌾

The month of April brought plenty of activity to our garden. It was a time for preparation, soil care, and also some very tasty rewards. The arrival of spring made everything start growing faster—and with it, our excitement grew too.

🌿 Collecting Grass and Leaves: Food for Our Composter

Throughout the month, we continued gathering grass and dry leaves to feed our composter. This task is essential to maintain the natural cycle of the garden and to use plant waste as a source of life for future crops.

🌱 Sowing the Future: Tomato Seedbeds

Another key task was preparing the tomato seedbeds. We sowed them carefully, with the first May planting in mind. Now we just have to observe, water, and wait for the tiny plants to grow strong and ready to be transplanted into the garden beds.

🍓 New Plantings: Strawberries and Lettuce

April was also a month for new plantings. Along the edges of the garden, we planted strawberries, hoping they’ll grow well and bear fruit over the coming months. We also planted lettuces in the beds, taking advantage of the good weather and well-aerated soil.

🥬 First Sweet and Green Harvests

Joy arrived with the first strawberry harvest! Although small, it was very special. We also continued harvesting Swiss chard and snow peas, which are still playing a big role in the kitchens of the families involved in the project.

🚜 Preparing the Ground: Ploughing Gardens 1 and 2

To end the month, we ploughed gardens 1 and 2, leaving them ready to soon receive the much-anticipated tomatoes. The soil is ready—and so are we!

We continue working with enthusiasm and learning every day from the land, the plants… and from ourselves. The garden keeps growing as a space for learning, sharing, and respecting nature.
